“A lot of folks talk about creating generational wealth in cannabis. That’s a very small number of people who are going to be able to do that, and for those that aren’t able to, it’s going to be generational debt, because it’s not something you can just walk away from.” –James Kahn, strategic advisor, Takoma Wellness Center, Washington D.C.

Well said James. This sentiment could also apply to indoor ag in general. In this day and age of get rich quick investor schemes many companies never plan to actually make money - they're just trying to

get

money. Now don't get me wrong, I'm as much of a capitalist as the rest of them. And probably you too. We were all born into this system and whether you like it or not we have biases that motivate us to continue to reinforce what we all know best. Growth and consumption.

At some point all organisms need to come into equilibrium with their environment or risk outstripping the ecosystem that supports them. Whether blue crabs in the Chesapeake Bay or dandelions in your front yard, schemes by Bernie Madoff or MedMen or on the other end of the spectrum, giant sequoias, indigenous societies and mom & pop bodegas, there are many examples of how and how not to move forward sustainably. We are now at that point for cannabis specifically and indoor ag in general.

It's not all doom and gloom though. Some predict that small, lean cannabis operators
