Finally It's Friday

It's Friday

SEA OF GREEN

By Duncan Cameron, SOW Consulting LLC

Happy Friday!!  I'm keeping it short & sweet this week so let's jump right inASTM International (American Society for Testing and Materials) just completed its two day workshop on Cannabis Product Quality.  The panels were conducted by a worldwide group of stakeholders consisting of scientists, regulators and producers.  A couple of key takeaways -

  • GMP is coming.  For those that are not currently gearing up for this reality it's time.  Tighten up your SOP's and have a sanitation and recall plan in place.  And just to clarify GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) stops at harvest; drying through packaging is governed by GMP

  • Interestingly Health Canada does make the distinction between products being used for pharmaceuticals, which do require GMP and recreational products which do not

  • Spoiler alert! - Cannabis testing overall is not accurate.  Some of this is driven by lack of standardization but industry pressure is also a factor.  There needs to be a detente between the labs and operators to avoid government intervention.  States have a plethora of valuable testing information. Sharing this would allow for stakeholders to analyze the findings and help root out bad players.

   Product News  RE-NUBLE https://www.re-nuble.com/

Re-nuble is working to make CEA operations more sustainable.  Their key products are a hydroponic nutrient line made from food waste and fully compostable grow media.  As the indoor ag industry struggles with its environmental image and carbon footprint Re-nuble offers options to help offset these problems.

Anyone who has built a vertical garden knows that in-rack airflow can be a challenge.  There are many players out there but Fabricair has developed a simple and effective solution with quiet fans that have  small profiles providing even distribution over long runs.  I like them because they have been around since 1973 and apply knowledge from other industries.

  Thanks, d
